Macromastia is causing at least one of the following conditions/symptoms with documented failure of at least one continuous 3 month trial of appropriate medical management.
****Shoulder, upper back/neck pain, and or ulnar nerve palsy for which no etiology has been found on appropriate evaluation.
****Intertrigo, dermatitis eczema, or hidradenitis at the inframammary fold.

Is my skin too sensitive for a Facial, Peel or Microdermabrasion?
Anyone can have a Peel or Microdermabrasion. The correct protocol will be customized to your skin type and condition. Proper prepping of your skin with the right skin care products will not only help desensitize your skin, but also help you acheive a better, longer lasting outcome.
What is the difference between a Peel and Microdermabrasion?
Both are very similar. They both remove dead skin cells to reveal healthier younger skin, while stimulating new skin cells. A Peel is a chemical means of exfoliation and Microdermabrasion is a mechanical means of exfoliation.
Am I going to be really red after my Peel or Microdermabrasion?
Some pinkness can be expected. Those who have had microdermabrasion treatments with me know that I take extra steps to ensure that you feel cool, smooth, and refreshed after your treatment is finished.

What should I expect after my Peel or Microdermabrasion?
A little dryness or flaking can occur but is unlikely. When you remove the outer protective layer, your skin's natural moisture content evaporates a little faster than normal. When your new skin cells replace the old dull ones that were removed, your skin will be hydrated, smooth, and healthier. Applying extra moisturizer for 2 days after your treatment will help with any dryness.
Am I going to "break out" after my Peel, Microdermabrasion Treatment or Facial?
Not usually. If there is an existing problem under the skin that cannot be extracted, of course it will eventually surface. Otherwise, your skin will clear up nicely and feel great. Microdermabrasion, Peels and Facials are wonderfully effective for any type of acneic skin.
How long am I going to "peel" after I have a Peel or Microdermabrasion?
There are many types of Peels and intensity levels of Microdermabrasion. These remove only the superficial layers of skin to reveal fresher, younger, smoother skin. Therefore, no peeling shuld be expected. TCA peels such as the Obagi Blue Peel is a deeper peel that will cause some actual peeling for 3-7 days.

How long do I have to stay on my skin care products?
Your skin is the largest organ and should be cared for every morning and every evening to keep it clean and healthy. Basic skin care should be a part of everyone's daily regime. If you are using prescription products, a maintenance program will be designed for you.
Should I switch my products if I feel that my skin is getting "too used" to my current one's?
Your skin does like consistency contrary to popular belief. Using a facial scrub two times per week will keep your current skin care program working at its full potential. Having a peel or microdermabrasion will also help your current skin care products penetrate more effectively. The only time you should change your program is if your skin changes. Environmental changes, hormonal fluctuations, medications and surgery can influence the way your skin feels and acts.

Am I allergic to Retin-A?
A true allergic reaction can occur but is very unlikely. Dryness, redness, and flaking are all temporary symptoms that you acquire during the first couple of weeks of using Retin-A. The right dosage will be prescribed to fit your skin type and condition, which is why even the most sensitive skin types can use it.
Consistency and diligence is key and you should use a small amount every night until your symptoms subside. If you keep skipping nights, you will never leave the "symptomatic" period.
Retin-A is a great exfoliant and new cell stimulant. It is the only topical cream that has been proven to repair damaged DNA cells. Everyone should be using it. It is the best wrinkle cream and it is great for acne. It is also a compatible vehicle for hydroquinones (skin lighteners).

I have Rosacea, so can I use Retin-A or have Peels and Microdermabrasion?
Those who have Rosacea can certainly use Retin-A, have Facials, Peels, and Microdermabrasion. The lowest percentage of Retin-A must be used for 4-6 weeks before a treatment. This will help strengthen blood vessel walls and desensitize the skin before a treatment. Of course, a more gentle protocol will be used when you come in for your first Facial, Peel or Microdermabrasion treatment. Rosacea is a condition where the blood vessel walls become inflamed which can cause acne and broken blood vessels. Microdermabrasion, Peels and Facials can be customized to suit all skin types with rosacea.

Will Microdermabrasion cause more broken blood vessels?
If Microdermabrasion is performed on skin that is too thin, a striped bruising and sometimes broken blood vessels can be formed. This is why it is very important for the aesthetician to be well educated and experienced. Proper skin analysis before any treatment is a must! If your skin is too thin for Microdermabrasion, the Biomedic Micropeel is a great alternative.
