Fat grafting is the process of removing fat from one area of the body which may be in excess and then transferring it into another body location where it is needed or is useful.
Liposuction is used to harvest the fat. The fat is re-inserted using special needles or cannulas. I have been performing fat grafting procedures for over 14 years! I have a special meticulous protocol which I have refines over the years to assure my patients the highest rate of successful fat grafting.
This involves gentle aspiration, gentle filtration, sterile handling, and rapid reinsertion.
I have done fat grafting for lower eyelids, cheek enhancement, jaw line, nasolabial folds, lip enhancement, breast enlargement, chest wall reconstruction, male breast reconstruction, partial female breast reconstruction, as final camouflage in breast cancer mastectomy reconstruction, in buttock lift, augmentation, enhancement, shaping, as secondary correction of scar defects and previous liposuction, and in hand rejuvenation.
The applications are limitless, the outcomes can be magical!
Let the Buyer Beware!
There are many factors to consider when traveling abroad to have plastic surgery. Cost savings is the least of it. I’ll point out a couple of them for you. What do you know about the instrument sterilizing protocols? Is it worth getting Hepatitis C during an eyelid procedure? Are you getting black market or gray market breast implants (i.e.; expired, discontinued, recalled, unapproved). The most common issue is getting sizers not actual implants.
Who is there to take care of even minor problems. Suture abscesses, thickened scarring, and transient eye issues?
I’ve seen many patients through the years who ended up spending more money to correct secondary problems than if they stayed in the U.S. to have their original procedures! Just think it through critically before you act, that’s all!

I am frequently asked why cigarette smoking affects healing. The carbon monoxide and nicotine work on different aspects of wound healing. Carbon monoxide prevents oxygen from being delivered to tissues “stressed” from surgery. Oxygen is necessary for wound healing, and when limited, can also cause increased wound infections. Nicotine constricts the tiny blood vessels which carry blood (and oxygen) to the edge of a healing wound. Any skin flap surgery (such as facelift, breast surgery, or tummy tuck) are particularly at risk of complications with smokers. At least four weeks for certain procedures but six weeks minimum is generally required for cessation of smoking prior to surgery. It’s your result and you’re worth it!
We recently added the Jane Iredale line of makeup to our spa service offerings at regeneration the medical spa here at Spiro Plastic Surgery. The feedback has been amazing! Patients say it makes their pores appear smaller. Even though it is complete coverage, it feels very light. A key to its success is mixing it with a touch of the primer. This allows it to glide on more easily. Best of all it’s long lasting. Patients don’t feel the need to touch up through the day, and just a little bit goes a long way. Come in to see us and experience the Jane Iredale skin care makeup line for yourself. Many of our patients who appear on TV love it!
Here’s a recent testimonial from one of my patients….the next could be you!
My expectations were met and surpassed. Dr. Spiro is an artist-as you can observe in his waiting room. A year after a tummy tuck and breast reduction, I smile at my reflection and can positively say he is an extremely accomplished artist, and Thank God that he chose plastic surgery to focus on…because I am so happy with my body and his “artwork”.
I have recommended many friends to him in the past year, and 6 of my acquaintances have had different things done by Dr. Spiro prior to me deciding to go with him. This made a difference in getting me to his office, but once I met him and his staff, I was so impressed, I would have chosen him without all of those recommendations.
Dr. Spiro and staff, Thank you for everything!
